Autologous Adipose (fat) Derived Stem / Stromal Cell Therapy
Stem Cell Therapy is a cutting edge and non-surgical procedure aimed at helping our body oganically recover from chronic pain and severe injury. Non-controversial adult stem cells are harvested from either the fat tissue or bone marrow of the patient and then injected into the damaged area fostering the growth of new and healthy tissue. What Are Stem Cells?
In our office, we use Adult stem cells, or plainly, stem cells that come from an adult human. These stem cells are derived from the patient's own body and are harvested from either fat tissue or bone marrow.
Stem cells have a unique ability, which is why they can help injuries heal. A stem cell has the capability to turn into other types of cells, and also, the ability to self-renew. On other words, when there is an injury to the joint, to the tendons, muscles, or ligaments, stem cells can turn into any one of these types of tissue, creating new healthy tissue and continually create more of the same new tissue. Damaged tissue is then replaced by healthy tissue and the injury is no more.
When stem cells are introduced to the injury site, they know to turn into the type of cell you need for recovery and continue to produce these cells untill the damaged is repaird and the area is no longer injured.

Stem cells are taken from either fat tissue or bone marrow via an injection depending on the procedure.
What is Treatment Like?
Stem Cell Therapy begins with an in-person or on-line consultation with one of our specialists to determine if you are a candidate for Stem Cell therapy. Your past and present medical history is reviewed by Dr. Bieber. All available previous testing including x-rays and MRI’s are also reviewed by Dr. Bieber. If indicated, new x-rays and/or MRI’s are ordered. Once determined that you are a candidate for Stem Cell therapy, you set an appointment for the treatment.
On the date of your Stem Cell therapy, you will come to our state of art medical facility, relaxed and ready to go. Your blood pressure is taken and a sample of blood is drawn. Dr Bieber harvests (takes) a sample of fat tissue (via a small needle size hole near your belly button). The Fat Derived Stem Cells and Pure Platelet Rich Plasma (PPRP) (gotten from the blood sample) are then processed in a special way.
Dr. Bieber numbs the painful area with a local anesthetic and than injects the Fat Derived Stem Cells and Pure Platelet Rich Plasma (PPRP) directly into the often multiple damaged areas of your painful joint or tendon. The entire treatment is performed in our office and the time of the treatment is normally under four hours. We do not rush. We take our time with you. You will be able to walk out of the appointment afterwards and do not need to stay overnight.
Depending on the case, it is sometimes recommended to off load the painful area using a brace or cane, which we provide, for a few days. Often a mild pain medication (not an anti inflammatory) will be prescribed for a few days to help with any mild discomfort you may have after the treatment. We also recommend special vitamin therapy to help the Stem cells to do their work.
Most patients that receive a Stem Cell treatment are recommended to have a 1 month follow up booster of a Pure Platelet Rich Plasma (PPRP) injection to support the work and regeneration processes of the Stem Cells.
This treatment aligns with your body’s natural healing process and as such, it may take some time before you begin to see improvement. The tissue takes approximately 2-3 months to repair itself but many patients note decreased pain and a change in their condition within a few weeks.
What Makes Our Office Different?

Dr Bieber does not just place the Fat Derived Stem Cells and Pure Platelet Rich Plasma (PPRP) in one area of your chief complaint. For example, your knee joint may be your main concern, Dr. Bieber will evaluate the health of your medial and lateral meniscus or other damaged structures in the knee using an ultramodern musculoskeletal ultrasound and if indicated, will place the Fat Derived Stem Cells and Pure Platelet Rich Plasma (PPRP) in those damaged sites as well, often treating 4 plus damaged areas in the knee.
The length of your Fat Derived Stem Cell and Pure Platelet Rich Plasma (PPRP) treatment often takes 2 – 3 hours as Dr. Bieber takes his time to make sure all your injured or worn out tissues are treated properly.

The adipose (fat) is harvested usually from the abdominal wall below the umbilicus or inner thigh. Subsequently, the fat is placed in a bidirectional centrifuge resulting in the isolation of adult stem cells. The combination of adipose (fat) stem cells and high-density platelet rich plasma is then deposited to the damaged tissue area. Ultrasound guidance is used to deliver the adipose-derived stem / stromal cells and high-density platelet rich plasma precisely to the site of injury. This procedure is safe and effective.
